DIY: Top or dress with gathered neckline and raglan sleeve. Part 2. How to use elastic thread.. In the previous video we've designed a blouse gathered on an elastic thread.
Now we need to cut and open the front, the back and the sleeve.
This blouse is not off the shoulder. We make a round neckline and gathered raglan. You'll see it soon.
I'll show you once again how to widen a blouse. I won't add too much for the gathers.
Notice that I'm not even trying to make the pieces even – it's not important. What is important is to put them on one line and leave some space for the gathers.
I won't tell you how much cm I have in between the pieces, because you should open as much as you want.
I'll make a blouse 7 cm longer than the pattern.
When the front and the back are ready for the cutting, you can start working with a sleeve. Don't forget to sign it.
You need to practice. After a couple of times you won't have any problems.
We've made the pattern on the basis of the basic pattern, so we don't need to add any extra cm just in case.
When making a sleeve, you don't need to measure every mm. You just need to practice and you won't have any problems.
I don't need to mark the waistline now. The blouse is wide, so it will fit me anyway.
I show everything for you to know how to do it. Theory and practice are 2 absolutely different things. It's better to show something once than to explain it a lot of times. You won't understand how to make an item unless you see it.
I need to tack the sleeves in before gathering the neckline on an elastic thread.
When you start tacking, tack the upper part first, and then adjusted the lower part. I’ll show you everything. The most important thing is that you should cut the even pieces off the shoulders on the front and on the back. If don’t do it simultaneously, you can make a mistake.
Don’t stretch anything! Tack slowly.
If you want the seams to match, work on it from the very beginning.
I’ll go to a sewing machine to stitch the blouse, and then I’ll put it on a dummy to show you.
The edge can be processed with a rolled hem. It’s up to you how to process it. We are talking about the designing now.
It’s a very good design for the summer.
